At Lorber Pottery, all of our
ceramic works are truly one-of-a-kind, and each piece is signed by the
artist! Each piece is hand-made by the artisan on a potter's wheel
with Grolleg porcelain clay, then is bisque-fired and cooled. We
primarily work with crystalline glazes, which we feel are among the most
fascinating in the ceramics world. Only the most elegant shapes are
appropriate for crystalline glazes. A simple, flowing line of form
displays the intriguing, brightly-colored crystals: nature's magic
locked in time on a classically-shaped ceramic piece. The glaze is made
from raw materials and is applied to the ceramic artwork by carefully
spraying it on to the desired thickness. The crystals are formed by
bringing the pottery to a temperature of 2,350 degrees F. and holding
the glaze in a molten state for over three hours.
The results are simply dazzling to the eye!
